Three Branches Institute
About
The Three Branches Institute (3BI) is a history, government, and civics-focused educator professional development opportunity hosted jointly by the Supreme Court Historical Society, White House Historical Association, and U.S. Capitol Historical Society.
This year’s 3BI features site visits, discussions with historians, and shared resources designed to support teaching and learning about the people, events, and processes that have shaped the three branches of government in the United States, with a particular content focus on the evolution of governance in the Gilded Age.
2026 Program Details
Date: Monday, July 27–Thursday, July 30
Location: Washington, D.C.
Eligibility: Social studies educators, leaders, and library media specialists working with grades 5-12
Travel and Lodging
- Participants will receive solo hotel rooms
- A $500 stipend will be issued upon successful program completion
- Daily lunch will be provided; free breakfast is available at the hotel
